Cranberry Orange Wheat Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup Wheat Germ
  • ½ cup Apple Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 pc Egg
  • 1 cup Cranberries, dried
  • 1 Tablespoon Orange Zest
  • ½ cup Skim Milk
  • ½ cup Orange Juice

Directions

1. Preheat an oven to 375 ⁰. Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
2. In a large bowl, stir together the whole wheat flour, wheat germ, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in the cranberries and orange zest. In a separate bowl, stir together the egg, milk, apple sauce and orange juice. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Stir until dough forms. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead briefly to get the dough to hold together. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into circles with a biscuit cutter. Place the scones 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
3. Bake in the preheated oven until the tops and bottoms are golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm.
