Coffee

coffeeCoffee is a brewed beverage which is made from the roasted seeds of the coffee plant. Cultivated in over 70 countries, coffee was first discovered in the northeast region of Ethiopia and was quickly traded among early Arab cultures. Today, coffee is one of the most widely traded and consumed agricultural commodities on the planet. Coffee beans are extracted from the coffee berry, a product of several species of evergreen bushes from the genus Coffea. The two most widely cultivated bushes include Coffea Arabica and Coffea Canephora. Once ripe, the coffee berries are picked from the bush, processed and dried for transport. The beans are then roasted once they reach their final destination, then commonly ground into a powder to extract the most flavor and taste. A modern innovation is instant coffee, a form of freeze dried coffee which does not require the beans to be removed from the hot brewing liquid.
